Minutes of the CMP committee meeting 20^th Dec 2007 –
This meeting was held on line.
Present : Torab Saleth, Hillel Ticktin, Nick Rogers, Mike Macnair,
Yassamine Mather
Apologies: John Bridge, Chris Gray

Officers:
The meeting  decided to reduce the number of officers to two , one officer responsible for 

1- Correspondence/Membership secretary / treasurer Nick Rogers was proposed and accepted to take on this role

2- Meetings Secretary – To prepare Agenda, minutes of meetings, arrange next committee meeting. The meeting decided to leave the decision regarding who will do this task to the next committee meeting (YM  will write minutes of the 20th Dec meeting and prepare agenda for the next committee meeting)

  Journal/Research program

Hillel Ticktin had proposed changing the journal from its current  format to a thematic journal , published twice a year with a specific theme relating to our research , with an editor to male sure the quality of the published article.

This proposal was combined with Chris Gray’s proposal for a research program and it was agreed to discuss

Mike Macnair while agreeing with this proposal expressed a reservation that this might be seen as a step  towards reducing openness and reducing contributions from all comrades. He suggested the printed journal should take on this proposal but suggested the website should be used for publishing other articles from members of the campaign.

 Torab Saleth proposed that there is an urgent need to produce a pamphlet explaining what the campaign for a  Marxist party stands for. He suggested that we might already have enough material to produce such a pamphlet (collection of a few articles) in order to introduce the campaign.  The meeting agreed that this proposal should be taken up.

 The current decision of the committee is to publish articles from CMP members on the web and reduce the number of journals to 2 issues a year in line with a specific theme  probably in conjunction with  the proposed research program .

  Next meeting of the committee will be in London Saturday 19^th Jan 2008
